ABOUT THE TEACHER...
My name is Mrs. Christy Hawley. I have been teaching for over 15 years and love this profession. I have an extensive background in all areas of education. My first belief in is relationships with the students and with their parents. Without a good working relationship, we all suffer. We have a mutual interest in seeing the children
succeed and we have a better chance of making them successful by working
together. All children can learn when they have the proper supports
in place.
I also believe in open, honest communication. We have to be honest with each other
in order for all of us to be successful. We also need to be able to communicate
openly about struggles and successes so that we can help each other in
learning and teaching.
Children also deserve a chance. This is on many accounts. They deserve
a chance to learn, to make mistakes, to redeem themselves and to grow.
I may not handle classroom procedures and discipline in the most traditional
sense of the word, but my students, learn, grow, and reflect each day. This
teaches them to become more independent and work through their
mistakes. To learn from them and have opportunites to grow.
On a more personal note, I am a daughter, mother, wife,
and grandmother. I adore my husband, children,
grandchildren, and parents. I spend most of my
weekends with my four-legged children
(2 dogs, 2 ferrets, and a cat) and my husband.
We tend to be working outdoors most of the
time. In my free time, I enjoy reading and
doing research.
